The Social Cognition Preconference, sponsored by the International Social Cognition Network (ISCON), spotlights emerging research that exemplifies the social cognition approach to addressing psychological phenomena. This year, in addition to presenting and honoring the ISCON 2017 Best Paper Award and ISCON 2018 Early Career Award winners, we will have a program highlighting the applications of social cognition to recent real-world events. Speakers will address the social cognitive underpinnings of geopolitical phenomena, intergroup processes, or other recent real-world events and will engage in discussion about what the field is doing well and what we can do better to understand these phenomena.
