2020 SPSP New Orleans Convention

Travel & Registration Awards

Financial support is available to students and teachers attending the SPSP convention. The eligibility requirements for these awards varies; visit our Travel Awards page for more information, including deadlines and details on submitting an application.
Diversity Graduate Travel Award

Diversity Graduate Travel Award

SPSP's Diversity Fund offers eligible graduate students a $500 award to assist with the cost of attending the convention. Applicants should explain how their participation in the convention advances the goal of enhancing diversity.

  • Awardees are required to attend the SPSP Diversity and Climate Committee's convention reception
  • Awardees will have the opportunity to meet with an admired scholar of their choosing
  • Decisions are based on the excellence of the applicant’s scholarly record
Graduate Travel Award

Graduate Travel Award

SPSP offers a limited number of awards to graduate students traveling to its annual convention. Applicants must be current members and must both submit an abstract and be accepted to present (poster, paper or data blitz).

  • These unrestricted awards of $500 may be used for travel or other convention-related expenses
  • Previous recipients of the Graduate Travel Award or Diversity Travel Award are not eligible
  • Students may also apply for the Diversity Award, but can only be selected for one award
Teacher/Scholar Travel Award

Teacher/Scholar Travel Award

Many institutions do not offer financial support to faculty who wish to attend conventions and conferences. To assist with the cost of traveling and registration, SPSP offers unrestricted awards of $500.

  • Open to SPSP members who teach or work exclusively with undergraduates
  • Award winners are selected based on the excellence of their abstract submission
  • Graduate student teachers and teaching assistants are not eligible for this award

Diversity Undergraduate Travel Award

Diversity Undergraduate Award

To advance SPSP's goal of enhancing diversity within personality and social psychology, a limited number of awards are available to undergraduate students from underrepresented groups.

  • Winners receive a complimentary registration to the SPSP convention
  • Awards are granted based on the excellence of the applicant's scholarly record
  • An abstract submission is not required for this award
