This year’s preconference will examine the role of social psychology in criminal law and the criminal justice system. Specifically the first symposium will examine the evidence for implicit and explicit bias in police behavior. The second symposium will examine the role of decision making in adjudication processes and the third the social psychological underpinnings of punishment, risk of recidivism and rehabilitation.   The preconference will include 10-minute data blitz presentations as well as poster presentations from graduate students and new researchers.

Blitz Talks & Posters

The Social Psychology and Law Preconference will feature five to six, 10 minute datablitz talks (chosen competitively) on any topic related to law and social psychology. We will also host two poster sessions, one during the lunch hour and one at the end of the day. To submit a datablitz talk or a poster please send a pdf file containing the title, 150-250 word abstract, author(s), affiliation(s), and email address of the presenter to socialpsychandlaw@gmail.com.  For a poster submission, address your email with the subject "Poster Submission: [YOUR NAME]".  For a datablitz submission address your email with the subject "Datablitz Submission: [YOUR NAME]". Posters and datablitz talks will be accepted on a rolling basis through January 1st, 2016 while space is available.
